Why Shopping Local Means So Much...

I could tell you that shopping local means so much because it feels good, but in reality it means so much more then that. When we first opened the doors of My Closet Envy, we were a consignment store. Our goal was to carry designer items but at a much more affordable price for those unable to afford it brand new.
As we progressed and learned more about the apparel industry we had a group of High Schoolers approach us and ask if we would carry their brand. That brand was Ebon Clothing. From that moment on, we knew that we wanted to get into the market of new apparel. So we moved to Main Street and started fresh with all new apparel.
Over the years, we have continued our partnership with Ebon Clothing, and we have added many more local brands to our store. It's the designers and owners of these brands that gives us our drive and passion for making our push into carrying MORE local brands a priority. Being able to actually have a face-to-face with the owners of Ebon Clothing, Seatown Sole, Urban Rain among so many others, allows for us to get to know the people behind them. We get to know what drives them. What started their passions. The stories behind their brands.
It's that reason that we ask you to shop local. Not just because your shopping at a small store, but because your supporting a designer working a 12 hour shift to pump out designs to feed themselves. To help put their daughter through swim lessons. To help them cope and pass through a difficult time. Because when you shop local, you support those who live, work, and play in the same community you do.
